Starting with a game against University of Spokane May 27, Arlington’s girls softball team achieved a goal for the season.

“It was a goal of this team to make it to state. It’s not an easy task to get there,” said softball coach Hayden Fields-Raught said.

The Eagles kicked off their tournament run winning against the Titans 10-5.

Riley Ryan was three-for-three that included two consecutive home runs. “That was amazing,” Fields-Raught said. Ryan got a single off a bunt, was intentionally walked and had five RBI’s against University.

Fields-Raught also complimented the efforts of Avery Zodrow. “She was a team leader at the plate and got on base at key moments.”

Emmaly Morris led off the top of the seventh inning with a home run. The Eagles scored four runs in the seventh. Kailyn Thai had two RBIs.

“That was an amazing game and a great way to start the tournament,” Fields-

Raught said.

Arlington next faced Lake Washington, the tournament’s second seed and eventual state champion. The Eagles lost 11-1 in six innings.

Fields-Raught said Lake Washington’s pitcher was one of the toughest they faced, and they capitalized on opportunities and hit the ball well.

Arlington had one more game May 27 against Wesco Conference foe Monroe. The Bearcats topped Arlington 12-2 in six innings.

Fields-Raught said Monroe has a great leadoff hitter and pitcher. “They were seeing the ball really well.”

She said she enjoyed seeing the team compete in the state tournament.

“I’m super proud of the girls,” Fields-Raught said.

Durfee, Riley Ryan and Lexi Eck were named first team all-Wesco and Kailyn Thai and Maddie Fischer made second team, Fields-Raught said.
