Arlington improved to 5-1 with a win March 18 over the Marysville-Pilchuck. They beat the Tomahawks in three straight sets (25-17, 25-19 and 25-16).
The Eagles were led by an all-around performance from Malia Shepherd with 14 digs, six aces and six kills. Setters Brookelynn Ramey and Taylor Pederson combined for 32 assists. Taylor Helle had 15 digs and Emily Mekelburg had 13 kills, coach Lauren Amundson said in an email.
Arlington’s junior varsity squad won two sets to one (25-21, 25-23, 17-25). Amundson noted the strong defense by libero Brooklyn Helle was a key to the win. Clhoe Fochecato led the offense with eight kills and three aces and Reese Remle scored seven kills.
Cadynce Knudson demonstrated outstanding leadership with dynamic setting and two aces, Amundson said. Setter Meredith Marsh earned two kills and her strong serving complemented her assists. The junior varsity squad is 5-1.
The C-Team won winning two sets to one (25-10, 25-11 and 23-25 with outstanding performances by Maddy McCall, Mollee O’Brien-Bowen and Citlali Castaneda-Santacruz, Amundson said. The C-team’s overall record is 5-0.
