Raymond Stewart Hammer III (Sonny), 78 from Maysville, WA, passed away peacefully with his wife Cheryl and family by his side August 2, 2018. Ray was born in Deming, Washington, June 11, 1940 to Raymond Hammer Jr. and Rose Hammer-Mattson. Ray is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Hammer, 5 children, stepmother Beverly Hammer, stepbrother/stepsisters Pam, Roy and Donna. Ray is preceded in death by his parents Ray Hammer Jr. and Rose Hammer Mattson, his first wife Darleen Lunn Hammer, brothers Robert Hammer and Ronald Hammer, and stepbrother Ronnie Fuller. Ray married Cheryl (Sundell) Hammer 42 years ago on June 25, 1976. Ray and Cheryl raised 5 children together: Crystal (Kevin) Newport of Omak, WA, Raymond (Star) Hammer of Arlington, WA, Tammy (Joevir ) Morada of Edmonds, WA, Dale Stelter of Goldendale, WA, and Laurie (Mike Souratina) Stelter of Bonney Lake WA. They have 13 grandchildren, Kristen, Amber, Ryan, Tanah, Kyle, Ross, Jaevre, Darren, Serena, Amanda, Dustin and Faith and numerous great-grandchildren. There are also so many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends that played such a big part in his life. Ray had two babies, Holly and Velvet, that kept him in high spirits. Ray took pride in his work. He grew up logging most of his life. He belonged to the I.U.O.E #302 Local union for 38 years. One of his biggest passions and love was Christmas and the 36 happy years of selling Christmas trees out of their home in Marysville, WA. One of Ray's greatest attributes was how he could make anyone and everyone smile and laugh. There is not a person who walked away from him without feeling like they made a friend.
