Downtown Marysville has a new salon and spa as the Trinity Salon and Spa held their ribbon cutting and grand opening on Feb. 7.

The locally owned salon had officially opened just a day before on Feb. 6.

It is located at 305 Columbia Ave., Marysville.

The new salon offers all of the classic offerings including "a variety of hair services, hair cuts, colors, perms," said owner Shawna Pester.

They also have a couple of licensed estheticians that can provide sugaring, waxing and facials to clients as well.

Pester's goal with opening Trinity Salon and Spa was to create a positive atmosphere and business for the community.

"I wanted to create a place where people loved working and where people felt safe," she said.

"I feel like this is going to be a safe place that people can go where they won't find any gossip or drama," she said.

For Pester, creating a business that is helpful for her community is a way to practice her own faith.

"For me it was kind of my mission because I wanted to serve people," she said.

The name of her new business, Trinity, comes in part because of her faith as well, but also because the business is on Third Street, she has three kids and because her daughter often mistakenly gets called 'Trinity.'

Pester has worked in the salon industry for 19 years.

For five years she worked at a salon in Edmonds before transitioning to working from home and eventually opening her own salon this year.

"My youngest didn't love me working from home so we decided to open a salon," said Pester.

She said she loves the relationships that she builds by helping people with their hair and interacting with them.

"I love making people feel good and feel like I get a good personal relationship with all my clients," she said.

"I always tell people once they're my client, they're my friend," she said.

Now Pester is able to create relationships at her own salon, and so far she said customers have appreciated the new business.

"Everyone said they felt so great coming in here and they felt like it was a good atmosphere," she said.

Pester and her husband have lived in Marysville for more than a decade now and were already involved in the downtown business community.

"We're part of the community and we own the CrossFit gym across the street," she said, "so we're down here all the time anyway."

The stations at Trinity Salon and Spa are rented so the hours are not as set in stone.

"I'm guessing it's more or less going to be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.," she said.
