Toys "R" Us opened their first outlet store in Washington state on July 1 in Tulalip at the Seattle Premium Outlets mall.
The store provides many different kinds of toys for local parents and gives a "wide array of everything," said store manager Kathy Hudgins.
"Everything from our own specialty toys that you can only get at the outlet, to brand names like Barbie, Lego, Little Miss Pet Shop, Hot Wheels, Star Wars and more," said Hudgins.
Some of the specialty toys that are only available at outlets include Imaginext, remote control vehicles, drone vehicles and Ideal-brand board games.
"We have a lot of our own crafts too, from baby-appropriate and all the way up," said Hudgins.
The store will also have a "What's Hot" section that offers crafts and toys that change every few months, said Hudgins.
"Usually every few months based on what's selling," she said.
Another special section includes the "Lego Store."
"Lego is big in this area," said Hudgins, and their special section includes kits and brands of Lego that are only available at Toys "R" Us.
The outlet store is not as big as a regular Toys "R" Us, but still contains many of the same items, said Hudgins.
"It is smaller, but is based on a big store, so we're like a mini-big store," she said.
"The biggest difference is the clientele here. We have a more tourist-based clientele as opposed to more of the regulars," she said.
Hudgins said that many people have said they are glad to have a toy store that is more local now.
The nostalgia is also a draw for many. "A lot of people remember it from when they were children, we get a lot of that," she said.
Parents like the service, she added.
"Being a mom myself I've shopped for a lot of toys, so I know our level of service is excellent here," said Hudgins.
Because they focus on just toys, the store is also able to have a wide selection.
"We have a wider array of toys as opposed to other retailers. We have a big selection and variety," said Hudgins.
The kids always like coming to toy stores, but they like the Toys "R" Us mascot Geoffrey as well.
One kid "let out this sequel as soon as she saw Geoffrey. Because they love to see him and they recognize him," said Hudgins.
The new store is at 10600 Quil Ceda Blvd. at the Tulalip outlet mall. They will be open standard mall hours, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
