A new dental office in the Lakewood area, Smokey Point Smiles Dentistry, opened recently and held their ribbon cutting on July 13.
The new office is at 17103 28th Dr. NE, Suite 104, Marysville.
Hamed Sahari will be the dentist at the Lakewood office. He has been practicing dentistry for nine years now.
"I've always grown up around healthcare, even in my house my father had an office in an annex of our house," he said.
When fixing teeth you can see the results faster than medicine, he said.
"Dentistry provides a magnificent venue where you can see immediate results," he said. "To be able to help take care of somebody gives me great satisfaction."
The office has been open for about six weeks and is part of the Washington Dental Corporation network.
"Washington Dental Corp. is an organization that opens dental offices in different communities," said Alek Hagigi, who supports the offices in the north Seattle area.
He said that the company tries to be patient-centric with its approach to running dental offices.
"It's a little different than most dental offices. We try to build these around our patients and what they like," he said.
"Same-day dentistry" is an important goal for their offices, he said.
"People are busier and busier, and when given the choice they like to do their dentistry the same day," he said.
Part of that is using a CEREC machine, which builds a crown in the same day at the office, a process that used to take two or three weeks.
Their offices try and offer options to patients as well.
"If someone needs a crown, for example, we usually try to offer three or four different types of crowns," said Hagigi.
Options for low-income payment plans are also available at the dental office.
"If someone wants to start treatment, they don't have to pay for the entire thing up front. With out-of-pocket expenses we can help with financing. We also have in-office payment plans that go up to 12 months," said Hagigi.
Hagigi said the corporation also "believes in the culture of giving back as much as possible."
One day every August they open the doors to all their offices and provide free dental care to those who can't afford it, and they provide mobile dental clinics to low-income areas, he said.
Sahari has worked for about six weeks in Marysville now and said he is glad he chose to come to the city.
"The biggest surprise, and I grew up in Seattle, has been how nice people are in Marysville," he said.
The office's hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
