Sacred Path Day Spa in Smokey Point, which provides locals a variety of massage and spa treatment options, held their ribbon cutting on Jan. 11.

The new local business opened in December at 3210 Smokey Point Dr. Suite 103, Arlington.

They offer many of the classic spa options including massage therapy, facials, body treatments and waxing.

The new business also provides foot detox, ear candling, life coaching and some unique massage options.

"I do have some services that aren't offered at other spas around here," said owner Delanie Crawford.

Options like the "fourhand massage" are unique to the new spa.

"The fourhand massage is two massage therapists doing a synchronized Swedish massage on one person, so they have four hands on them at all times through the service," said Crawford.

Another special massage that Sacred Path Day Spa offers is the cannabis massage, which uses CBD hemp oil.

"It doesn't have any marijuana in it and it doesn't give you a high, it just has the pain relief in it without the high," said Crawford.

Working as a massage therapist has been a goal of Crawford's for a while.

"When I'm working with people, the reward is just amazing to me. I couldn't see myself doing anything besides being a spa specialist," she said.

Crawford wanted to start her own business after helping many other businesses get off the ground.

"I've been in the industry for about eight years and I noticed I was helping a lot of start-up businesses grow and start," she said.

After a while, the business's growth would leave her behind, she said, and Crawford wanted to try for herself for once.

"I felt I needed to do it for myself. If I can do it for all these other people, why can't I do it for myself?"

She started focusing on the goal and after a few years of being unable to start, she was finally able to begin her day spa this December.

After a month of business she's said that people always enjoy the design of the spa.

"When they're coming in they're blown away by the decor," she said, describing it as "very '70's" and "soft and feminine."

Appointments begin at 9 a.m. and the final appointment begins at 7 p.m. each day for the business, said Crawford.
