Editor,

I am the mother of six students in the Arlington School District. We moved here almost six years ago because of the great schools here. I have two daughters in high school, three in elementary school and my one and only son, in the school district's developmental preschool.

I have had many interactions with the teachers and staff at my children's schools. I am very impressed with the quality of teaching and learning in our school. All of my children love going to school. We are very blessed to live here in this wonderful community.

Valentine's Day 2012 is an important day in the Arlington School District. We as a community will be able to show our children and all the children in our community just how important they are by voting.

2012 is a levy year, which means our current levy will expire. We have the opportunity to replace it with a four-year levy that will remain the same in years 1 and 2 and be reduced in years 3 and 4. The replacement levy is really important to our schools, especially now because it represents about 26 percent of our budget. Programs such as technology, curriculum, staff development, special programs and extracurricular activities are all programs that are supported with the funds.

It's imperative we support our kids' future. It's our kids' future--and ours. I'm voting for kids. How about you?
