Editor,

Our family was excited to see the contests in the Outlook and the special holiday section on Nov. 17. My mother, who is 82, is a crossword puzzle addict and immediately grabbed the paper to fill in the blanks for a chance to win a prize.

Unfortunately, there was some kind of mixup on one of the clues, but I was able to call your office and get the correct information quickly and with a friendly attitude.

I grabbed my neighbors' copies of the holiday section so my three kids could all take part in the coloring contest, and they spent a happy afternoon coloring and decorating at the kitchen table. What fun!

Thanks for giving us a chance to slow down a bit this holiday season and spend some time together over our community newspaper. The Outlook has become a favorite piece of mail in our household, as I'm sure it is in many local homes.

So, I look forward to that phone call telling me we've won some prizes, but even if we don't, everyone enjoyed the brief break.
