Festival isn't all fun and games

Editor,

Well, here we go again.

Pretty soon the streets will be blocked off, people will be walking through my lawn and leaving behind litter you can't believe.

Yes, I'm talking about Strawberry Festival. I enjoy a good party as much as anybody else, but I'm not crazy about having thousands of strangers tromping through my garden, throwing dirty diapers and cigarette butts in my driveway, and keeping me trapped in my house for three days.

Those of us who live in and around Marysville Middle School become unwilling "hosts" for carnival-goers. Aside from the personal inconvenience, I wonder if our school district is really being paid enough to power all those generators and run all that water.

I know I sound like an old curmudgeon, but it's just a simple case of respect for other people's property. When you're heading out to the festival events, keep in mind that some of us actually live here, and have lives that don't get to stop in June.

Thanks, and welcome to Marysville.
