Spending on park land out of line

Editor,

I read in your February 11 issue that Arlington is buying a bunch of privately-owned flood land for millions of dollars to turn it into a park. This kind of project just doesn't make sense to me when cities everywhere are cutting budgets, laying people off, doing without road fixes and police.

Hopefully the citizens of Arlington will benefit from the money spent on land that will be under water part of the year. It's clear the Graafstra family will benefit. But I just don't get it.
