Preserve rural character

Editor,

As we come up on elections for our County Commissioners, it is important to consider what it is that makes north Snohomish County the place you want to live. The rural and farmland nature of the area, and the people that appreciate this nature, are what make the area attractive to me.

John Koster has continually worked to allow urban growth, both via expansion of urban areas through attempted repeal of the growth management act, and repeated votes (or calls to the county executive) supporting fully contained communities that can be built from within current rural areas. My question over the past 20 years has been: "When will the urban sprawl stop?"

Through my long term interactions with Ellen Hiatt Watson, it is clear she appreciates our lifestyle, and will work to preserve farmland and rural character. As a small business owner myself, I also know Ellen understands and will support business operation and development in the county.

Decide which vision for the future you prefer and vote accordingly.
