Keep our rivers clean

Editor,

I'm a kayak newbie who is really enjoying my newfound sport. I have been slowly venturing out on the local waterways.

Today I decided to try the upper Stilly east of the I-5 bridge and paddle to Stanwood. I hadn't gotten too far when I noticed the most disgusting collection of empty cans, mostly beer cans, at different locations along the riverbank all the way to Stanwood. What was even worse, some cans had worked their way into the river bottom.

I was saddened and angry that people can't clean up after themselves and have a total disrespect for our beautiful surroundings. Please pack out what you bring in and keep our rivers pristine.
