Editor,

As a member of this community it has come to my attention that Word of Life church has demonstrated the trust it has in God's love by showing forth the very same spirit of love in helping the poor and needy of Marysville for the past ten years and in the past couple of months particularly in the following ways:

1.) Since July 1999, on the last Tuesday of every month, this body of believers has generously devoted their resources, time and skills in offering a free home-cooked meal to the area's less fortunate (Master's Feast). Along with the supper, the poor have been able to take "home" with them various food commodities. If they are in want of clothing, the church has a closet of assorted articles to pick and choose from, and if the right item cannot be found they will make every effort to accommodate the request personally. They welcome all and allow those who are down and out to have their space to comfortable partake of what is available--hot food, clothing, baby supplies, genuine company, prayer and suchlike.

2.) This past June there was a person whose PUD bill from the late winter period was long overdue. His service was about to be disconnected. Word of Life paid the entire amount - upwards of $200.

3.) Just recently, this same person was facing eviction from his apartment. He needed an additional $220 to make his rent. Again, the church stepped up and came to the rescue!

What is most impressive about their charity is that one does not need to be a "member" of this church in order to receive this kind of aid. The above individual had only attended a few free meals and a couple of official services; he had nothing to offer in return but his gratitude to them and to the Lord for placing such a heart in them to live even as he wishes all to live--one family of mankind there for one another, even as he is there for all of us at any give time.

This is the type of good news that this world sorely needs to hear about. And this news is happening right here in our little corner of it.
