Letters to the Editor

Disasters are punishment for abortion policies

Editor,

The 2008 presidential election continues to prod me to speak out on behalf of our unborn children, who are in danger of death by abortion, as well as their mothers and fathers who face the grim realities of abortion and its consequences.

Six million Jews were killed during the Nazi Holocaust. In comparison, since 1973, more than 8 times as many innocent unborn children have lost their lives to the violence of abortion (50 million). Yet, America continues to sanction abortion while electing a president that vows to keep this fatal procedure a centerpiece to his administration. Does anyone care?

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, president, Human Life International, said we were “warned” about our nation’s moral decay, especially the abortion holocaust in a November 14, 2008 HLI editorial titled, “We have No King but Caesar.” We ignored science and technology, such as 3-D and 4-D ultrasound. God then had to allow such an “onslaught of terrorism, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, earthquakes and tsunamis” in the past decade that He surely thought would wake us up to our travails.

Finally, Euteneuer said, “He hit us in the most sensitive spot on the human body: our wallets, high gas prices, and the recent financial meltdown.” Still, we did not listen as our lust for abortion continued and we elected the most extreme abortion president in history.

May God have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Merrysville for the Holidays

Editor,

After moving to Marysville a few years ago from the big city 30 miles south, I just had to write and thank whoever was responsible for the wonderful parade and holiday events at Comeford Park on December 6.

My kids had never been to a community parade, and none of us knew what to expect. We really enjoyed all the lights, the fun of the different decorated vehicles, the great marching bands and the festive atmosphere all around.

We ducked into the community center to check out the bazaar and found some really wonderful, artistic displays of items that were truly one-of-a-kind, and locally made as well! It was fun to chat with the artisans in person and learn more about some of the unique items.

All in all, we experienced all the friendliness and hometown hospitality that attracted us to Marysville in the first place. Bravo to all who helped plan and put together such a festive evening.
