Leave city park out of plans

Editor,

The Marysville Mesenger reports in the Mayor's State of the City address, that the Comeford Park "area" is being considered for the location of the City administrative campus.

Tell me, does the word area mean property near the park or does it actually mean the park will be destroyed (as I suspect) for the sake of  consolidating the business of the City?

As far as I can remember, Comeford Park (including the water tower) is the last thing left of "old" Marysville. The Koi pond has been removed, the bandstand torn down and the children's wading pool is gone--but it is STILL Comeford Park. Not only does the very name remind you of Marysville's history but it is the last bit of green left in downtown Marysville.

So, a suggestion. Take the park out of the mix and locate the complex on the recently acquired waterfront. Nothing of distinction will be destroyed and Marysville will keep its own little Central Park, more commonly known as Comeford Park.
