The first Marysville all-comers track meet of the season opened up with huge success on Thursday, July 12.

The first of four track meets that will be held at Marysville-Pilchuck High School every Thursday through Aug. 2 was held on July 12. These meets are open from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and cost $5. The fee allows each competitor to participate in as many events as they want throughout the day.

"We wanted to bring it back for the community and give families something that they can do together. Now that we have the first one under our belt, we're hoping that the word will spread and a lot more people will come out to have some fun," said Marysville-Pilchuck Head Coach Mike Cull.

After a few years without an all-comers meet in Marysville, the Parks, Culture and Recreation Department, Marysville-Pilchuck track program and the Lakewood track program came together to put together the competition. With experienced volunteers running each event, the whole meet went smoothly and each athlete was assisted in how each event worked.

"I thought it was a great turnout and we had a few kids from our camps come out as well. Lots of kids getting ribbons, having a lot of fun and walking away with smiles, so I'd say it was a success. We had a lot of young kids come out, but it would also be nice to see some older athletes come out and compete," said Lakewood Head Coach Jeff Sowards.

There will be on-site registration, but it is encouraged to print out a form online in order to save yourself some time when you get there. All of that information can be found at http://www.marysvillewa.gov and if you wish to pre-register you can find that at the website as well. If you want to know more about the All-Comers meets, then you can contact Dave Hall at DHall@marysvillewa.gov.
