Find your treasures at Junk in the Trunk

Marysville’s large community garage sale, Junk in the Trunk, brings back numerous vendors to the city on July 14 and later in the year on Sept. 8.

This year’s event is held at the Marysville Municipal Court again at 1015 State Ave. and takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We’re sticking with the tried and true formula. This is our large community garage sale,” said Joanna Martin, Marysville’s community center manager and the main organizer for the event.

“Vendors are able to bring their household items or things they have made in the hopes to sale to the public,” she said.

Items typically range from clothes, antiques, vintage toys, housewares to more direct-sell type of items.

Currently there are 55 vendors signed up, said Martin, although she expects to fill all 75 slots soon.

“We have been getting a lot of calls recently,” she said.

Martin said that shoppers like coming down to look through the bargains at the event.

“There’s a lot of interest in it,” she said.

“Shoppers don’t have to drive around to a number of different sales to find the things that they are looking for,” she said.

The event also helps people who want to sell some of their old, unused items as well.

“To hold a garage sale can be a lot of work,” said Martin.

“We do a lot of the marketing so vendors usually feel like they’re getting bang for their buck here,” she said.

Last year was the first year that the city ran the event twice, once in the summer and once in the fall.

They plan to run the event twice again this year. The second Junk in the Trunk is scheduled for Sept. 8.

“It went really good. There was a nice turnout in the fall,” said Martin.

“The summer was the bigger of the two, but it was also warmer,” she said.

The event is held at the same time as the Marysville Farmers Market which happens at the nearby Marysville City Hall parking lot.

Martin said they like to keep the two markets running at the same time to encourage shoppers.

Vendor space is $25. For more information go to
