A new Bartell Drugs will open in Arlington this April at 7423 204th St. NE.

The drugstore will hold a grand opening event on April 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., that is open to the general public.

Bartell officials plan for the store to carry basic drugstore items with a pharmacy, health and beauty items, various grocery items, and beer, wine and spirits.

The full-service pharmacy will also include a drive-up window.

The recently built location is planned to be 14,671 square feet.

The Seattle-based drugstore chain also makes it a point to carry many items that are locally produced or sourced.

"We have thousands and thousands of products we offer, but we like to highlight all of the local products we provide," said Ric Brewer, Senior Communications Manager with Bartell Drugs.

The local flavor gives Bartell Drugs a number of items that are more difficult to find in larger national chains.

"These local products are very unique to us," said Brewer. "Other drug stores simply can't provide these products since they have to order in bulk, and a lot of people really like that we provide them."

Those products include cosmetic items like the Oregon-based Pacifica, which produces beauty products that are 100 percent vegan and cruelty-free.

Northwest-based food companies are also carried, such as Joe Chocolates, Theo Chocolate or Oberto jerky.

A variety of craft beers and wines from the region are also available at Bartell Drugs stores.

The April 21 grand opening for the store will include a number of giveaway opportunities for those stopping by.

"The first 200 visitors that come in will receive a customized coffee tumbler," said Brewer.

Inside those tumblers will be a Bartell Drugs gift card which will range in value from $5 to $500.

"And that is completely random which one you will get," said Brewer.

Locals who come to the see the grand opening will also have the opportunity to win themed gift baskets.

Some of their products will also be at the new store for sampling.

"There will be a number of vendors available to get some product samples," said Brewer.

A caricature artists will also be available for those who stop by during the grand opening.

Brewer said that Bartell Drugs is excited to expand into Arlington with their 68th location.

"It's a great community up there," he said. "It will be beneficial to us and hopefully beneficial to the community as well."

He said that the chain, which began in Seattle in 1890, has no current plans to expand out of the region.

"We will always be only in the northwest," he said.
