Registration is now open for the city of Marysville’s annual dances, including the popular Father-Daughter Valentine’s Dance, the Mother-Son Superhero Dance and the Prom Re-Run.

Those interested in signing up can go the city’s website at marysvillewa.gov or call the Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation office at 360-363-8400.

Father-Daughter Valentine’s Dance

The annual Father-Daughter Valentine’s Dance is a tradition for many families that sells out quickly.

“I definitely recommend registering early to get the dance session that you want,” said Andrea Kingsford, recreation coordinator with the Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation department.

Registration began Jan. 3 and Kingsford said one of the dances usually sells out in the first week, with the other dances selling out shortly thereafter.

This year’s dances are on Feb. 3 and 10.

Photos are also taken and provided to attendees. Kingsford said that some families keep all their photos lined up together through each year.

A DJ will provide music for the dance as well. “Like in previous years we will have DJ Canon back,” said Kingsford.

Cost for the event is $25 plus $5 for each additional daughter brought to the same dance.

This year’s primary sponsors are Bob’s Burgers and Brew and Gamut 360 with additional support from Marysville Kiwanis, ProAction Physical Therapy, Bouquets of Sunshine, Clear Image Photography and Sound Source Seattle.

Mother-Son Superhero Dance

This will be the third year for the Mother-Son Superhero Dance on April 21.

At the event children can meet superheroes and dance to the music provided by DJ Canon as well.

Attendees are encouraged to come in costume as a superhero or in formal wear, said Kingsford.

Kids can get photos dancing and with their favorite superheroes as well.

Cost for the event is $25 plus $5 for each additional son brought to the same dance.

This year’s sponsors are Gamut 360, Kung Fu 4 Kids, Sound Source Seattle and Clear Image Photography.

Prom Re-Run

This will be the second year Marysville hosts a “Prom Re-Run” and the Marysville Opera House.

The event will be on March 3 this year with a theme of “Evening Under the Stars,” said Kingsford.

“It is a prom for those 21 and over, with all of the fun parts of a classic prom,” she said.

Royalty is crowned and there are end-of-the-night awards like most likely to get the dancing started.

Live music will also be at the event.

Cost for the event is $45.

Sponsors of the Prom Re-Run include Bleachers Grill and Home2 by Hilton.
