The Deputy Mayor of Yueqing, Ye Weiquiong, and Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring exchange signatures on a ceremonial document memorializing their cities' friendly relationship.

A delegation from the Chinese city of Yueqing visited Marysville Nov. 15 to discuss local government issues and tour the city's water treatment facilities.

Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring, City Councilmember Steve Muller and city department directors welcomed the delegation and hosted a round table conversation at City Hall. The Chinese delegation included Ye Weiquiong, Deputy Mayor of the Yueqing people's Government; Zhang Qi Gui, Director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs; Huang Xiaozhong, Director of Development and Reform; Tang Jian Sheng, Director of Water Resources; Fang Liming, Director of Centre District Management; and Lian Zhengjian, Advisor of Hongqiao Town of Yuequing.

The discussion included manufacturing, economy, housing and natural resources. Yueqing is a city with 1.3 million residents in eastern China.

Marysville established a Friendship City relationship with Yueqing in 2014 to promote educational and economic opportunities and cultural awareness. A Yueqing delegation previously visited Marysville in April 2015. Both visits were coordinated by Marysville residents Noah Rui and Rachel Erickson-Rui, who serve on the Mayor's Diversity Advisory Committee.
