The Tulalip Heritage volleyball team welcomed the Sulamita Christian Eagles to their home court on Oct. 19.

The Hawks got off to an incredible start as they failed to trail at any point during the first set, taking the lead with a win of 25-4. In the second set, Tulalip Heritage managed to give their second rotation some playing time as they took on the Eagles starting rotation. Even with a line-up of mostly backups the Hawks still took the closer win of 25-18.

In the final set the Hawks subbed back in their starting line-up and came back firing once again as they put away Sulamita Christian with ease, 25-7. Overall, Tulalip Heritage came away with the match victory of 3-0.

"We've been doing a lot of different things at practice and I have completely changed the rotation. I wish we had this rotation set earlier, but I'm glad that we are learning as we're going and getting better every week. We'll be sitting pretty when it comes to Districts with all of our changes," said Tulalip Heritage Head Coach Tina Brown.

Hawks' Jessica Taylor finishes up the first set against the Eagles at Tulalip Heritage High School on Oct. 19.

The senior duo of Karyn Parks and Deandra Grant dominated for Tulalip Heritage. Parks led her team in assists and digs as she set up her teammates to score against the overmatched Eagles defense. Grant was the main receiver of her sets as she led the team in kills and used her height to place the ball into defenseless openings.

From the first set Rosealynne Williams played a pivotal role as she racked up a handful of aces as the first server for the Hawks. This led to the dominate performance of only allowing four points.

If you want to watch the Tulalip Heritage Hawks they will be competing in the 1B District Tournament at Mt. Vernon Christian on Oct. 25-26.
