The local HomeStreet Bank is running a coat drive this October and November for the local nonprofit Kloz 4 Kidz.

The Marysville branch of the bank is located at 1238 State Ave., Marysville.

The coat drive began in the middle of October and will continue until Nov. 19.

Marysville’s HomeStreet Bank manager Kirstin Tyner said that the response from the community has been good so far.

“Because we like supporting the community, we have many customers who like giving back as well,” Tyner said.

The only thing some people were concerned about is if the coats were staying local, which they are.

Kloz 4 Kidz is a nonprofit organization run by the Marysville United Methodist Church that provides shirts, pants and other clothing items to families in need in the greater Snohomish County area.

Tyner said that this year their biggest needs are for boys coats in the sizes of 10-12 or 14-16.

Tyner regularly meets with charities and nonprofit organizations in the area through the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce’s nonprofit coalition.

Recently the coalition heard from Kloz 4 Kidz representatives who where hoping that a coat drive could fill their need for coats during the winter season.

“They said that they are always low on winter coats in kids sizes,” said Tyner.

The organization usually receives donations and help from local school district’s lost and found donations at the end of the year, “however that still never seems to be quite enough coats for them,” said Tyner.

Tyner volunteered to help setting up a coat drive at the bank she manages.

“We focus on being involved with the community,” she said. “We like to do anything we can to partner with other organizations in the community.”

In addition to helping the community, drives like this also help introduce the bank to the community and get people to come in, she said.
