More than 80 local children received brand new winter coats recently thanks to Marysville Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 3219.

For the fourth consecutive year, Marysville Fire District firefighters have partnered with the national nonprofit Operation Warm to provide free coats to children in need. This year, the firefighters provided coats to first graders at Liberty Elementary School.

"This is truly one of our favorite events of the year," said Captain Jason Tucker, IAFF Local 3219 President. "We love to see all the smiles when the kids pick up their coats. We also know the coats will mean these families can use their limited resources on other needs this holiday season."

Funding for the Union Made in the USA coats was generated through a fundraising campaign in partnership with KISW 99.9 FM.

Since partnering with Operation Warm in 2012, IAFF firefighters across North America have provided brand new winter coats to more than 200,000 children in need.

"This has been a wonderful partnership with the Marysville Fire District and IAFF Local 3219," said Liberty Elementary Principal, Richard Middaugh. "It's awesome to have them here interacting with the kids, and its reassuring to know that each one of our first graders will stay warm this winter. We can't thank our local firefighters enough for their generous support."
