A Starry, Starry Night evening art auction and dinner event is planned for Saturday, Oct. 21. The annual art auction is the Arlington Arts Council’s (AAC) only major fundraiser that raises money for public art installations in Arlington and other art opportunities for kids and adults through the year.

The Arlington Arts Council has helped install approximately 40 pieces of public art, most of which have been purchased by the Arlington Arts Council for display on Arlington's Art Walk, that follows the Centennial Trail through downtown Arlington.

This year, the Arts Council has installed a haiku granite stone at Terrace Park, contributed funds for the Centennial Trail mosaic mile markers and commissioned the granite frog by George Pratt for Haller Park. AAC members refurbished the Terrace Park stage mural, painted an owl mural and other birds in the park, as well as painted quilt blocks on a downtown building. AAC offers art activities for youth and adults throughout the year.

Tickets are $40 and includes a buffet dinner. There will be two silent auctions, and a live auction of art, services, experiences and more. There will be a no-host bar, a fun dessert dash and live music by Jeff Nicely and Randy Norris. Auction attendees and the public are encouraged to offer suggestions on what the next great piece of public art will be. Suggestions can be emailed to or mailed to 238 N Olympic Ave, Arlington.

Doors open to the event at 5:30 p.m., and dinner is a 7 p.m. Arrive before 6 p.m. for a free glass of bubbly courtesy of Arlington Pharmacy, and a chance to win the Early Bird Raffle prize.

Tickets can be purchased at Flowers by George in downtown Arlington 335 N Olympic Avenue, or call Jean Olson at 360-435-5866. The dinner is hosted at Gleneagle Country Club, 7619 E Country Club Drive. Purchase tickets by October 14. Auction items will be displayed on Facebook at
