One student was killed and three were injured in a school shooting in Rockford, Wash., on Sept. 13 and Marysville School Superintendent Becky Berg has traveled there to support the Freeman School District.

After the shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in 2014 the Marysville School District received support from other schools that had gone through similar incidents, including representatives from Jefferson County Public Schools, where Columbine High School is located.

On Sept. 13 Berg and one other Marysville representative traveled to Rockford, Wash., to offer their advice on the effects of another shooting.

Rockford is a small community located just south of Spokane, Wash.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the students and families in the Freeman School District, and the community members of Rockford, Washington. Marysville School District Superintendent Dr. Becky Berg and a trauma-informed professional are on their way to Rockford to provide additional support and resources during this time,” wrote district officials in a statement.

The statement says that the district is prepared to offer continued help to the Freeman School District.

“As a school district that has been impacted by a similar senseless tragedy, we know Rockford has a long road to recovery ahead. The Marysville School District will stand by them and provide the support and care needed in the days and months to come,” according to the statement.

District officials said that out of respect for the Freeman School District and Rockford community that they had no further comment.
