Western Washington’s Premier three-on-three basketball tournament, the 3on3X, will be held at the Arlington Airport on Aug. 12 and 13.

The tournament offers three levels of play: Upper, directed toward AAU and college athletes, Mid, for moderate and ex-varsity athletes, and Lower for recreational play. This year there should be around 175 teams and every team is guaranteed to play at least three games in their bracket.

“Three on three is just a different animal because it’s outside, hot and the best players can take over with only three players. You have to be tough and play great defense because it is so easy to be exposed with the lack of help behind you,” said Jeff Bryson, 3on3X vice president.

This is the 12th annual tournament in Snohomish County and the sixth year in a row for the Arlington Airport location. Over the years the tournament has worked to give back to the community and raise money for the youth. Over the last five years they have been able to donate over $40,000 to local kids and community outreach. This year they are working on helping young athletes with sports costs, Relay for Life, and also chose Kid’s Closet to donate to as well.

The five board members Eric Tregoning, Kelly Tregoning, Jeff Bryson, Heather Jones and Doug Diel have worked hard over the last six years and are creating another successful tournament. This year they are hoping to raise more money and have the best competition from over the last 12 years.

“It’s become a destination event for the Arlington community. I teach at the high school so you get kids talking about it and getting excited to be involved. Basketball has been such a huge part of my life and I love the game. My kids have always been involved in it and when we got the chance to take it over I jumped at the opportunity,” said Bryson.

If you would like to attend the tournament they are also offering camping on-site, so if you would like more information you can check out the website at
