The Fourth of July isn't only about barbecues and fireworks. It is also the day of the annual Pedal, Paddle, Puff Triathlon and Foam 5K which are organized by the Arlington Runners Club.

This year hundreds of local athletes, families and everyday people come out to Haller Park to take part in the festivities and compete in the races. The Arlington Runners Club is committed to getting everyone up and active any way they can in order to contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

"Arlington is a community. If you just look around you can see all of the families, fun and community coming together. It takes 50 volunteers to put this thing on and none of this would be able to happen without the help from the people willing to contribute their time. This year we are raising money to contribute to local nonprofits, mainly the Arlington Drug Awareness Coalition," said Devin Brossard, Arlington Runners Club president.

A lot of local athletes ended up finishing in the front of the races.

Before the start of the Foam 5K, the Pedal, Paddle, Puff Triathlon got off to a fast start. In the Iron Man division Kristopher Lee managed to keep a steady pace and cross the finish line as the first racer to do so. In the Women's division Lori Brown-Appel finished in first place.

For the men's and women's Foam 5K Kelby Wilson and Amy Norton finished in first place in their respective categories.

Unfortunately, times and placing for the team divisions were not available as of press time. However, all of the final result information should be up in no time and that can be found at
