The Marysville Soroptimists recently celebrated some outstanding women in the community with special recognition and cash awards totaling $5,000

Fallyn Gentry was awarded the Violet Richardson Award for her commitment to help the Marysville Community Food Bank. Over the past four years she has collected over 2,000 pounds of food and over $4,000 cash through food drives and fundraisers. Four years ago on her 10th birthday she invited her friends to celebrate with her at the Marysville Community Food Bank. She asked her guests to donate food or cash for the food bank instead of birthday gifts.  Fallyn was awarded $500 for herself and an additional $500 to her charity of choice, the Marysville Community Food Bank.

Maria-Leticia Florendo was awarded the Ruby Award for her many contributions to the community over the years. She has headed the Volunteers for AARP Tax Services in Arlington, Marysville and Lynnwood along with free tax prep services for navy personal for 15+ years. She has donated countless hours to the Marysville and Everett food banks. As a Navy veteran herself, she has a heart for other veterans and spends hours each week helping them. Maria-Leticia was awarded $500.

Rachel Killinger and Seanna Olson both received the Live Your Dream Awards. Both women are overcoming tremendous obstacles as single mothers to put themselves through college to better educate themselves and to provide for their families. Rachel was awarded $1,200 and Seanna $800. Rachel also received an additional $1,500 from the Soroptimist Northwest Region Live Your Dream Committee.
