The 3A Girls Golf State Tournament concluded the high school golfing season on May 23-24, and Marysville-Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell had players who competed.

Marysville Getchell sent two golfers to State, Abbie Braun and Alexis von Ellinghaus. Braun made it through the first round as she scored a 93 and then finished off her second round with a 103, finishing in 40th place. Unfortunately, Ellinghaus was not able to make it out of the first round as she scored a 102.

Marysville-Pilchuck sent one golfer, Katelynn Melohusky. She ended up having the best trip to State amongst the local competitors as she ended the first round with a 92 and the second with a 97. The final score of 189 placed her 34th.

Of the three local golfers to go to state, Braun and Melohusky will return for one more year as they try to repeat as State athletes.

"By the time you get to State, your base has been established and the biggest thing that gets in your way is your mind. So I am really happy with how we prepared because we grinded really hard to get ready for Districts. After that we focused on being relaxed and playing what we call grateful golf. We golf with gratitude because we are just happy to be playing at this point in the year. We wanted to relax, have fun and enjoy the ride," said Marysville Getchell Head Coach Jaci-Legore-Hodgins.

The Chargers made a strong push toward the end of the year and put together a strong showing at Districts to finish second and push their two athletes into State. The team of Mallory Ford, Madelin Curtis, Nicole ThengMuang, Braun and Ellinghaus came together for a strong showing to fall short only to Snohomish, in Districts.

After the State Tournament, the season is over and each team can look back on their accomplishments and start to prepare for the next year.
