Assistant Coach Raymond O'Dell gets the team ready for a hard practice at Marysville-Pilchuck High School on March 3.

The Marysville-Pilchuck boys soccer team has a lot of fresh faces and are looking to generate the chemistry that brought them to a 13-5-2 record, 8-3-1 league record, last season.

The Tomahawks are looking to piece together a team this year after losing 11 seniors to graduation over the offseason. Key pieces on offense and defense need to be replaced including both goal keepers that were staples in a stout defensive effort.

This season they will have a core of five returning seniors that they will build around to repeat their success of last season.

"Every year, with seniors moving on, seeing the new blood coming in, it not only challenges us as coaches but also as a team. With new faces, learning each other and adapting, it is really a huge part of our game. The guys need to develop that chemistry and it's extremely important for our success. The kids are very competitive and very motivated, to go along with their positive attitudes. They are all out here to train really hard and that's exciting as we move towards the season," said Marysville-Pilchuck Assistant Coach Raymond O'Dell.

Last season the Tomahawks surprised a lot of teams with their incredible defense all over the field. In total Marysville-Pilchuck totaled 11 shutouts throughout the season, allowing a lot of pressure to be taken off of the offensive side of the ball.

"We look forward to every game as we move through our schedule. We don't look past any team and make sure to prepare for each and every opponent we're going to see. In this division every team is a challenge,"

If you want to check out the first home match for the Tomahawks they will be matching up with the Cascade Bruins on Friday, March 17, at Quil Ceda Stadium.
