Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring will deliver his State of the City on Jan. 27 as part of the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce's January meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Tulalip Resort Casino in the Canoes Cabaret Room at 10200 Quil Ceda Blvd., Tulalip.

The meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to last until 9 a.m.

During the address Nehring hopes to talk about what the city has gone through recently and their outlook for the future.

Nehring said he enjoys giving the address as a way to keep communication open to the public.

"It's a good time at the beginning of the year to update people on what has happened in the last year and what to expect in the upcoming year," he said.

He hopes to talk about the city's recent projects it has completed.

"I plan to discuss what was accomplished in 2016," he said. "We had a number of road projects and the plans we've put together in regards to downtown revitalization," said Nehring.

In addition to those plans, a number of new businesses and commercial elements came into the city last year.

"I'll give some highlights from the budget process," said Nehring. The city completed it's biennial budget process last year and planned forward for the next two years.

Nehring also plans to talk about the future of the city.

"Looking forward into 2017, how are we moving forward," he said. The two most important plans for the city are probably the downtown revitalization project and the north end manufacturing-industrial center plans, he added.

Updates on many of the departments of the city, including transportation, public works, public safety and parks will be given at the address as well.

Typically Marysville's State of the City Address is posted on the city's website in video-form later in the month as well, said Nehring.

"I'm looking forward to giving the State of the City and I hope that if people are not able to be at the Chamber of Commerce meeting that they will look online for it later," he said.

President of the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce Jesica Stickles will also give the State of the Chamber at the meeting, where she will talk about the year for the local chamber and future plans.
