M-P's Justin Collier looks toward his coaches as he makes his next move in the second round at Marysville-Pilchuck High School on Jan. 14.

The Marysville-Pilchuck boys wrestling team hosted 14 teams in their big tournament of the year, on Jan. 14.

Coming into the tournament with an undefeated record the Tomahawks looked to dominate the competition through each round. Through the first round Marysville-Pilchuck led the rest of the competition with a score of 38 as Bethel kept it close with 28 points of their own.

The Tomahawks and Bethel kept it close, but Marysville-Pilchuck came in second with 192.5 points. They finished the tournament with 35 wins to 21 losses. Bethel finished in first among the 15 teams with a score of 229.5.

"We were very excited. We had a lot of success on the mat so we're very proud of the effort. This tournament ends up being kind of a family event where everyone comes out to contribute and help out," said Marysville-Pilchuck Head Coach Craig Iversen.

Marysville-Pilchuck claimed the championship for the 106 weight class as junior Cole Daurie rolled through his matchups and finished the final with a pin at 3:57.

Devin Fahlman, Keith Pablo and Jeffrey Roullier all finished second in their respective weight classes, emphasizing the dominance for the Tomahawks.

Overall, Marysville-Pilchuck finished with 13 top-5 finishers, more than any other competing team. This also includes placers in 10 out of the 14 weight classes.

"At this point every program is trying to stay healthy and get ready for the postseason. You want to see tough competition now, polish up moving forward and then get ready for that final push," said Coach Iversen.

If you want to check out the next Tomahawk home meet, they will be hosting the Snohomish Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m.
