M-P's Devin Fahlman dominates his opponent as he gets the pin in the first round at Marysville-Pilchuck High School on Jan. 6.

The Marysville-Pilchuck boys wrestling team hosted their matchup against the Stanwood Spartans on Jan. 6.

The Tomahawks entered the match with an undefeated record, and they left with one, too, as they controlled the game with the Spartans.

Marysville-Pilchuck combined for six pins on the day, and they were the beneficiaries of four forfeits by the Spartans. Losing only four matches to the Spartans, the Tomahawks won the match with a team score of 60-24.

"Stanwood is always a big match for us and is almost like a rival over the years. Getting a Wesco North win is huge and we are heading into the meat of our schedule now and into league matches. Right now we are building our cardio base as we move forward, and working out all of their technique, polishing it up. We are making sure that they are fine tuning what they've done," said Marysville-Pilchuck Head Coach Craig Iversen.

Two standout performances came from the 106-pound and the 160-pound weight classes. Raffy Simeone and Justin Collier absolutely destroyed their Stanwood opponents. Simeone was the first match of the day, and it did not last long as he finished with the pin in 33 seconds. Collier finished his match in similar fashion as he ended with a pin five seconds behind Simeone at 38 seconds.

If you want to check out the Tomahawks' next home meet, they will be hosting the M-P Premier Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 9:30 a.m. There will be over 10 schools competing in the event so don't miss out on one of the biggest tournaments in the area.
