State Route 531 to close for railroad work Nov. 28-30

Drivers who use State Route 531/172nd Street Northeast near Arlington should plan ahead for delays next week, Nov. 28-30.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, crews working for BNSF Railway will close both directions of State Route 531/172nd Street Northeast between 19th Drive NE and 19th Avenue NE until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30. This will allow contractor crews to remove the old concrete surface of the train track and replace it with a new track structure. The railroad is coordinating with the Washington State Department of Transportation on the road closure.

Detour information

A signed detour will be in place to direct drivers around the closure using Forty-Five Road, 140th Street Northeast, 136th Street Northeast and Smokey Point Boulevard. Drivers should expect delays and add extra time to their trips.
