Arlington Police arrest suspect in armed robbery


On Tuesday, Sept. 6, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Arlington Police officers were dispatched to reports of an armed robbery in the 3500 block of 172nd St. NE. An employee at the Safeway store reported that a man had shoplifted items and then pulled a knife on the employee when he was confronted. A local citizen followed the man at a safe distance and was able to give 911 operators information on the man’s location.

The man proceeded to run east from the scene on 172nd St. NE. A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputy and Snohomish County Animal Control Officer passing through the area heard the 911 call and followed the man. An Arlington Police Sergeant, the Snohomish County Deputy and the Snohomish County Animal Control Officer stopped the man in the 4300 block of 172nd St. NE and took him into custody at gunpoint.

The man, a 24-year-old from Arlington, was booked into Snohomish County Jail on one count of robbery in the second degree.
