Ruth Marie Dempewolf

Ruth was born in Memphis, Tenn. to Philip and Dolly Hammell on May 28, 1917.

She married her husband, Jack M. Dempewolf while living in Chicago, Ill. There they had two sons, Jerry and Tommy. They moved to Washington in 1952 where they raised their family.

After losing her husband of 35 years in 1975, she was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother until her passing at the wonderful age of "99". She often talked about the time she'd turn 100 and be able to hear from the President.

After the loss of her youngest son, Tommy, (a year next month), she had such a broken heart and became ill, causing her to pass on May 23, 2016. Ruth passed peacefully at the Benevita A.F.H. with her family at her side. She had lived there for about a year.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; two sons: Jerry and Tommy; two grandsons: Tommy and Kenny; her mother and father; three sisters and two brothers, of Chicago, Ill.

Ruth is survived by her granddaughter, Melissa M. Ruiz and husband Gabriel; two great-greandchildren: Kenneth G.R. Dempewolf, 23; Shyla M. Ruiz, 14, all from Burlington, Wash.; daughter-in-law (daughter) Ethel Dempewolf of Marysville, Wash.; niece, Laura Degard and families of Chicago, Ill. and numerous other family and lots of friends.

Ruth was a very generous, loving, kind person who would do anything for anyone if she could. She will always be loved and very missed by EVERYONE.

R.I.P. MOM, my sweet lady! We ALL love you!

A private family interment will be held later at the Evergreen Cemetery.
