Arlington Library plans June activities

The Arlington Library is planning a variety of events and activities in June.

Explore Summer for School-Age Children

Children’s Storybook Garden: The Curious Garden

Meet us in the garden for stories, crafts and hands-on activities. Discover how the beauty of gardens can transform your town, make a pounded flower bookmark and paint a rock marker for your own curious garden. Held on Saturday, June 11, beginning at 11 a.m.

Waggin’ Tales

Read a tale or two with Arlington’s best listeners, registered therapy dogs Gus and Mason. Reading aloud to a caring canine partner helps kids strengthen reading skills and improve reading confidence. For independent readers. Held on Saturday, June 25, beginning at 11 a.m.

Tweens and Teens

Teen Tech Tuesday: Minecraft Build Challenge

Join us for a special gaming-themed Minecraft build challenge using our Sno-Isle Minecraft server and laptops. Space is limited, so sign up if you want to guarantee your spot. Held on Tuesday, June 7, beginning at 3 p.m.

The Hunger Games

Middle and high school students: It’s the last day of school and the kick off of our Explore Summer reading program. Come support the Arlington Food Bank and have a celebratory field day with us across the street from our library. We’ll have pizza, beverages, and tons of fun, food-based competitions that are sure to fill you up and test your skills.  Challenge your friends to banana jousting, eat donuts hanging from trees, whistle while you eat saltines, and compete in many other food-based games.

We’ll be collecting donations for the Arlington Food Bank as well, so bring some canned or dried goods to the event. Be sure to stop by the library afterward to sign up to Explore Summer with us. Held on Monday, June 20, noon to 2 p.m.

All Ages

Friends of the Arlington Library Book Sale

Great books available at bargain prices. Something for everyone. Proceeds support the Arlington Library. On Tuesday, June 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Arlington Library is at 135 N. Washington Ave.
