Rants & Raves 3/25/15

RAVE: Thanks to the many volunteers from numerous organizations around the state that helped to shut down SR 530 for the Oso remembrance ceremony last weekend. It takes a lot of work to shuttle hundreds of people around and close down a highway.

RAVE: The Marysville Diversity Advisory Committee, Marysville Recovery Committee and Marysville Arts Coalition have partnered to sponsor first-ever Community Healing and Unity Art Contest as a way for community members to express their feelings following the Oct. 24, 2014, shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. More information can be found on the city’s website at

RANT: If you’re a website operator considering rearranging your entire layout as an April Fools joke you are the kind of person who is very annoying. A funny front page prank or something small is fine, but if you’re changing the entire usability of your site you have crossed the line from amusing prank to irritating.

RANT: How can eating a 4 ounce piece of salmon put on a half-pound of weight?

RAVE: Congratulations to Gonzaga for it’s 87-68 victory over Iowa in the NCAA Tournament which sends them to the Sweet 16 for the first time in six years. The Bulldogs face off against the UCLA Bruins on Friday, March 27. Go Bulldogs.

RANT: Pluto is not a planet according to how we classify planets. I don’t understand why people are so attached to the concept of Pluto being a planet. If we call Pluto a planet then there are lot of other random distant rocks floating in space we also have to call planets. Not everything we learn in elementary school is true and this turned out to be one of those things.

RANT: Corporations forcing conversation onto customers creating a tense sales environment.

RAVE: The Washington state legislature worked to change the law to actually allow local communities to be honored with their recent Medals of Valor. Thanks to all the legislators who worked to pass the bill and put on the ceremony last week.

RAVE: Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

RAVE: Everyday may not be good, but there is something good in every day.

RAVE: Being in a good frame of mind helps keeps you in the picture of health.
