Quil Ceda Village - Favorite Neighborhood Stores

Rants and Raves 3/4/15

RAVE: It’s Girl Scouts cookie time. Thank you to all the kids and their parents who are spending their time selling these cookies (including my personal favorite Tagalongs) to raise funds for this great organization. And a big “Thank You” also goes out to all of the local stores which provide space for the girls to set up tables to sell the cookies.

RAVE: Thanks to the crews who planted the daffodils along various segments of State Avenue in Marysville. The daffodils are blooming and look great. They are a wonderful way to help beautify the city.

RAVE: We get to spring forward an hour on March 8 with the start of Daylight Saving Time. Don’t forget to also check/replace the batteries in your smoke/carbon monoxide detectors.

RAVE: Hurray for the recent FCC ruling on net neutrality, moving access to the Internet closer to becoming a public utility. Essentially nothing will change with the new ruling, which is the entire point. As one of the only places in the modern world that is open and equitable to nearly everyone in the county, the Internet should stay that way.

RANT: The phrase “it worked like a charm” doesn’t make any sense. Charms don’t work. They do nothing. We should say “it worked like a scientifically proven and tested process” instead.

RAVE: Good luck to the local high school basketball teams, the Arlington girls and Marysville-Pilchuck boys, who will be competing at the Hardwood Classic state basketball tournament at the Tacoma Dome this week.

RAVE: A friendly reminder when you’re driving and someone lets you into their lane, and are being polite, please acknowledge their kindness with a “nice” thank you wave.

RANT: Yes, another doggie poop rant. Please pick up your dog’s waste so other people don’t have to remove it from their shoes.

RANT: My, oh my. Do I love this weather.

RANT: I lived here for 73 years and I know what will happen in July and August ... rain!
