Charles Daniel Haupt

 

SFC Charles "Dan" Haupt passed away peacefully at home with his family on March 4, 2014 in Marysville, WA.

He was born to Arthur and Leah Haupt March 20, 1934 in Newton, KS.

Dan graduated from Wichita High School in 1952. After graduation he began his 20 year career in the military serving in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army.

Dan served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a chemical warfare specialist.

After serving, he drove truck in Alaska, in which he excelled.

Dan volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, as firefighter/EMT in Darrington, WA and as an ambulance driver.

He was a member of Everett VFW Post #2100 and a lifetime member of the Arlington American Legion Post #76, where he served as post chaplain.

Dan was outgoing and always had a story to tell and a deep love for his country.

Preceding him in death was his daughter, Carolyn Dee Haupt; sisters, Connie Bennett and Mary Lois Haupt.

Surviving Dan is his loving wife of 57 years, Aubrie Ann Haupt of Marysville; sons, Charles "Danny" (Debi) Haupt of Steptoe, WA, Michael James Haupt of Marysville; daughter, Carol Diana (Paul) Givler of Marysville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A viewing was held on March 15 in Arlington.
