Naval Station Everett invites public to base open house

Naval Station Everett will open its gates to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 3, for a celebration of our nation's freedom with tours, food and entertainment.

Enjoy free tours aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Shoup and USCGC Blue Shark. Guests may reserve tour times at a ticket booth on base during the event.

Music will be provided by the Navy Band, the Fire Creek Singers, the Sound Singers and KSER Radio. Family-friendly entertainment and activities include Valentines Performing Pigs, Blackjack Flight Demonstration, a classic car show, Kid's Zone (pony rides, clowns, games, arts and crafts, and bouncy castles), climbing wall and go-karts.

Parking is recommended at the Everett Transit Station, 32nd St. and Smith Avenue. Buses will run from the station to the Naval Station's Main Gate every 20 minutes.

Parking is also available at the Everett Marina, 13th St. and W. Marine View Dr., and the Kimberly Clark parking lot, between 25th and 26th St. on W. Marine View Dr. A limited amount of parking at the Naval Station is available on a first come, first served basis.

Guests are advised not to park at the Port of Everett parking lot, as unauthorized vehicles are likely to be towed.

Vehicles and attendees will be subject to random security screenings, similar to airport searches. Items prohibited on base include book bags, backpacks, bags bigger than a purse or fanny pack, pets (with the exception of service animals), knives, explosives, ammunitions, fireworks, firearms, weapons of any sort, coolers and alcoholic beverages. No liquids are permitted on the ship tours.
