In about 4 weeks, Arlington Eagle football stars Bo Brummell and Colton Hordyk will suit up for one more high school football game. Both Brummell and Hordyk were selected to represent the Eagles and Western Washington in the annual Washington State East-West High School All-Star game on June 30 at1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Everett.

The Washington State Football Coaches Association released the rosters last month for both the East and West teams.

Hordyk is a 5'11" slot receiver and running back and Brummell is a 6'3" 225-pound tight end and linebacker. Both players were first team All-Wesco selections.

"It hasn't really hit me yet," Hordyk admitted. "I never thought I would be in this position, but it feels great and I can't wait to start practicing and meet the other players from around the state."

His teammate Brummell was also surprised by his selection, but also did not hesitate to share the credit for his success. "I had the best season of my career this year. I had a great quarterback in Blake (McPherson) who knows how to get me the ball, and Coach Dailer's offense really is what helped me get to the East-West game."

"Both of these players are quiet leaders who lead by example on the field. If we need a big play, they are the ones we rely on to get the job done," explained Eagles head coach Greg Dailer. "Bo and Colton deserved this selection. I was just disappointed that our quarterback Blake McPherson also didn't get the selection--he is probably the best quarterback I have ever coached."

The two players are excited that they will have a teammate with them during the experience.

"Bo and I are really close. I had a great season with him. I am really happy that I get one more chance to play with him before we both move on and play at different colleges next year," Hordyk said of his teammate.

"It's no surprise to me that Colton got the selection," Brummell said. "He was probably the best receiver in the league and well deserving of the recognition."

As this was Coach Dailer's fourth season as head coach for the Eagles, the graduating seniors were part of the first freshman class that spent their entire high school careers with him.

"Coach Dailer did a great job coordinating our offense. We lost a key player and coach had to adjust our offense because of it. He designed a great offense that really spread the ball around well," Brummell said of his coach.

"Coach Dailer is probably the best coach I have ever had," Hordyk added. "We were the first group he had as freshmen and our team was able to bond with him over the last four years. He is great from a coaching standpoint, but not only that, he is one of the best teachers and human beings I have ever met. He is always looking out for me. He has helped me on and off the field. I am really happy I got to spend the last four years with him."

Brummell will be traveling to Chico, California, next year to play tight end for Butte Junior College with plans to transfer to a four-year university. Hordyk signed a full scholarship to play receiver for Mid-America Nazarene University in Kansas.

"It's sad to lose players like these for next year, but I am really happy that they get a chance to move on to bigger and better things next season," said Coach Dailer.
