With 59 points in two basketball wins over Mariner and Kamiak, Terry Dawn of Arlington High School was selected as the WIAA Athlete of the Week in early January. Terry is a junior and participates in both football and basketball.

"Terry has grown in confidence as an athlete and student during this past year. It is exciting to see him honored in this way," said Tom Roys, AHS athletic director.

Roys and assistant principal Voni Walker acknowledged Terry during his English class, taught by Nick Brown, who is also his basketball coach.

Terry said he would like to play collegiate sports after high school on an athletic scholarship at either Cal Poly, UC Davis or the University of Washington. His studies are focused on pre-calculus, engineering, and chemistry with the intent of pursuing a major in engineering.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association recognizes outstanding athletes based on nominations by athletic directors from across the state.
