The Marysville Soroptimists and Kiwanis clubs have selected Andrea Adams and Sam Josephsen as September's students of the month. Both students are Pathways of Choice seniors at Marysville-Pilchuck High School and are recognized for their excellence in school and community involvement.

Throughout her high school career, Andrea has taken a rigorous course load including advanced placement in biology, calculus, language and composition, comparative politics, literature, and statistics.

Andrea currently serves as senior class vice president. She has also volunteered through her school's Big Buddy and Freshman Mentor programs and is an active honor society member.

Andrea has given back to her community by volunteering with the Marysville United Methodist Church, Kellogg Marsh Library Clean up, Marysville Food Bank, and other organizations.

Even with all the work Andrea does for her school and community, she still manages to find time to play varsity basketball and work as a part-time barista with Walkers Coffee Co.

After graduation, Andrea hopes to attend the University of Washington as a pre-med student.

Sam plays varsity tennis and is a three-time Scholastic Athlete Award winner. He has also been highlighted as one of the Everett Herald's athletes of the week.

In the community, Sam has helped those in need by collecting donations for the Marysville food bank and providing Christmas presents for children through MPHS's Miracle on State Street program. Sam has also helped give children a safe and fun trick-or-treating alternative with Halloween Fun Fest and has volunteered with the Marysville community Easter egg hunt.

Sam aspires to be a doctor and hopes to attend the University of Washington after graduation.
