Parents will have additional options for school notifications with the start of the new school year. The Marysville School District has contracted with SchoolMessenger, a company that provides notification services for parental outreach, emergency broadcasts and student communications.

The service allows parents to choose to receive phone calls, text alerts and e-mails about important issues affecting their students' safety and academic performance.

The SchoolMessenger capabilities will complement, not replace, the district's existing emergency preparedness procedures, as well as providing convenient notifications about upcoming school events such as statewide testing and parent meetings. Principals are still accessible for live visits and the district will continue to send home paper-based communications.
