CleanupAt a time when school districts are being hit with budget reductions, volunteer efforts are even more appreciated.

Volunteers including school staff, parents and students have planned a cleanup day at Allen Creek Elementary for Saturday, May 22. The group will tackle exterior building projects and grounds cleanup.

The school's PTSA has been planning the event in partnership with the district's maintenance manager, Keith Stefanson. The parent group has also coordinated with the school's principal, district maintenance staff and the building custodian.

Last year's Allen Creek Elementary Spruce-Up event drew hundreds of hard-working volunteers.

"It was a perfect day," said PTSA president Kimberly DeLap. "The front of the school sparkled again."
