Shelby Hintze is a senior in Pathways of Choice at M-PHS and an accomplished student who has had a significant impact on the community as a whole.

A consistent honor roll student, Shelby has challenged herself with AP and Honors classes throughout her high school career. She is a natural leader, supplementing her talents with attendance at the Mt. Rainier Leadership Camp and participating as a delegate to the Washington Association of Student Councils.

Shelby also enjoys creative opportunities, and has been a member of several choirs and the cast of the school's production of "The Sound of Music."

In 2009, Shelby was chosen to represent the City of Marysville in the Strawberry Festival as its queen, which gave her opportunities to visit other northwest cities and interact with young people all across the state.

The fact that Shelby makes her way around campus in a wheelchair has never slowed down this young lady. She serves as a team captain for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Stride 'n Ride event, is an active member of Leadership Snohomish County, and volunteers with OMCC and numerous school, church and community events.

Danny Stokes is a student athlete who maintains a 3.7 GPA at M-PHS Pathways of Choice while excelling in football, basketball and baseball.

Danny, who ranks in the top 15 percent of his graduating class, is a member of the National Honor Society and a participant in the "Academic Challenge" program. He is a leader on and off the field, as he has served as team captain or co-captain on his football and baseball teams.

The young man is also actively involved in his community and with global volunteer work. He has assisted with flood relief efforts in Granite Falls and Centralia here in Washington, and also traveled to New Orleans to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

He has participated in church youth group mission trips to northern Idaho, San Francisco and Nicaragua, helping with work that ranged from repairing homes to feeding the homeless and volunteering at an orphanage.

Here at home, Danny has volunteered with the Eagles Wings Banquet, the Marysville Community Food Bank, OMCC and the Rotary Club pumpkin patch. He is also a mentor with the Big Buddy program and assists with Pinewood Elementary's outdoor camp.
