Lakewood School District is reviewing a possible change to its elementary grade configuration, resulting in three K-5 elementary schools. A recommendation will be heard at the February 17 School Board meeting regarding boundary changes necessitated by the proposed conversion, with a final decision to be made at the March 3 meeting.

Kindergarten registration for both regular and tuition-based kindergarten programs will open on February 16. Since administrators are unable to assign incoming kindergarten students to a specific school, pending the decision on boundary changes, kindergarten registration will be held at the Lakewood School District Office from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration packets are available at the District office or any of Lakewood's elementary schools. To register your child, bring your child's original birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency, and two emergency phone numbers.

Registrations for our tuition-based kindergarten will be on a first-come, first-served basis with names of interested families recorded in a numbered order, with contracts issued at a later date. The district is currently developing the preliminary budget for the 2010-11 school year and it is unknown at this time if there will be a change from the 2009-10 tuition fee of $250 per month ($2500 annual fee).

Lakewood parents are encouraged to register kindergarten students as soon as possible beginning February 16, 2010 at the Lakewood School District Office, located at 17110-16th Dr NE, Marysville, WA 98271. For more information about the process, phone (360) 652-4500.
