Invitations will be in the mail soon for the March 14 benefit auction for Marysville's Arts & Technology High School, organized by the 2010 Senior Legacy committee.

The goal of this year's event is to provide funds to purchase interactive whiteboards and peripherals for the high school's classrooms. The technology package was included in the original design of the school, but was cut due to cost considerations.

Lana Magnan, chair of the 2010 committee, said the current goal is to solicit donations for the March event and to encourage attendance. Tickets to the event, which will include a live and silent auction and 4-course dinner at the Tulalip Resort Casino, are $50 per person.

"There's been so much teamwork between community groups and hard work by volunteers, especially Shelly Berry, Brenda Vieweg and Peggy Jahn, that have supported this process," said Magnan. "Unfortunately, this may be the last year for the Legacy committee auction, unless someone else steps forward to lead the effort."

Last year's 2009 Legacy committee will present a $27,000 donation to the school district this month for improvements to the campus walking trails and landscaping. The Tulalip Tribes have contributed 3,400 cubic yards of topsoil for the project, and Native Grounds Landscaping will begin work this spring.

The 2009 Legacy committee is also purchasing Fit-Trail equipment for the Secondary Campus, which will be installed with volunteer efforts by the Marysville Noon Rotary.
